A point of reference on the gastronomic map of Athens, Matsuhisa Athens is back, fully renewed, at the most scenic location of the Athens Riviera – at Astir.
On May 26, Matsuhisa Athens, famous for its study of the Japanese culinary culture, opened its doors to offer the high quality gastronomic experiences of Executive Chef Nikos Skamnakis and Head Sushi Chef Tony Vratsano.
Straight from Matsuhisa Badrutt’s Palace Saint Moritz and Matsuhisa Mykonos, Nikos Skamnakis will now be at Matsuhisa Athens, as Executive Chef. Together with him, for yet another year, will be Tony Vratsanos. Starting as Sushi Chef Manager at Yo’ Sushi, Tony quickly transferred to Nobu London, where he stayed for three years. This year marks his 10th anniversary as the dynamic Sushi Chef of Matsuhisa Athens.
The two chefs have given their own personal touch to the menu, with imaginative dishes and creative alternative takes on the Omakase menus, guaranteed to pleasantly surprise Matsuhisa fans and beyond.
New style salmon, tomato quinoa ceviche, spinach salad lobster, anticucho brazed short ribs, yellowtail jalapeno, toro jalapeno and shrimp koilados tiradito, black cod are only a few of the new and signature dishes that promise a gastronomic experience of a very high standard.
The highlight of Matsuhisa Athens this year is the opening of the Umi Bar, the new infinity bar at the restaurant’s outdoor area. Τhe Umi Bar (in Japanese, “umi” means “sea”), is the very first bar with the Matsuhisa signature, coming to introduce us to the experience of exciting cocktails from specialist internationally renowned mixologists led by Haris Georgopoulos.
Every Thursday, well-known Greek DJs will be taking turns at the decks, raising the vibes against the enchanting sunset.
